Alan Jackson is an award-winning country music superstar who has sold more than 80 million records worldwide. After moving to Nashville at the age of 27 to pursue country music, Jackson struck it big. Today, Jackson is known for blending traditional honky tonk and mainstream country sounds. He has recorded 15 studio albums, three “Greatest Hits” albums, two Christmas albums, two Gospel albums and many compilations.
However, years before Jackson’s mega success, he was a young boy growing up in Newnan, Georgia. He lived with his mom, dad and four older sisters in a small home built around his grandfather’s old toolshed. One thing that really helped give Jackson his love of Jesus and his love of music is that he sang in his church choir from a very young age. This cultivated his faith as a child — and his faith is what has remained a constant influence in his life to this day.
Alan Jackson has never shied away from singing about his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In 2006, Jackson released an album called “Precious Memories.” The record is full of songs expressing his deep faith in God. One such song on the album is called “When We All Get to Heaven.” In this hymn, Jackson proclaims, “Sing the wondrous love of Jesus / Sing His mercy and His grace / In the mansions bright and blessed / He’ll prepare for us a place / When we all get to Heaven / What a day of rejoicing that will be! / When we all see Jesus / We’ll sing and shout the victory!”
As Alan Jackson continues to take the country music world by storm, one thing’s for sure: his love for God is inspirational, admirable and definitely here to stay.
