In 2013, country singer Alan Jackson released his album entitled, “Precious Memories – Volume II.” The following year, that album won the award of “Top Christian Album” at the Billboard Music Awards. And it was that album that produced a beautiful song called “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder.”

In this moving hymn, Jackson sings about being called up to Heaven and meeting our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The lyrics say:

When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound and time shall be no more
And the morning breaks eternal bright and fair
When the saved word shall gather over on the other shore
And the roll is called up yonder I’ll be there

When the roll is called up yonder
When the roll is called up yonder I’ll be there

On that bright and cloudless morning
When the dead in Christ shall rise
And the glory of his resurrection share
When His chosen ones shall gather
To their home beyond the skies
And the roll is called up yonder I’ll be there

Because Alan Jackson grew up singing in church, he developed a love of gospel music at an early age. And that love remained throughout his entire life, both personally and professionally, as it found its way into his own music.

As we see in this striking song, Jackson knows what’s waiting for him after this life on Earth. May we all live our lives in a way that we will one day be welcomed with open arms into our eternal life with Jesus Christ.
