In this 1973 Easter-Spring Sonny & Cher special, Glen Campbell joined the dynamic duo in a medley of beloved gospel songs and wow was it great.
Dressed in coordinating yellow outfits, Campbell and Sonny & Cher joined together to sing beautiful harmonies and strong melodies on the popular songs “Day by Day,” from the hit stage musical Jesus Christ Superstar, as well as “My Sweet Lord,” “Put Your Hand in the Hand,” and “He Aint Heavy.”
This is a special combo, as their styles are completely opposite. The result is pretty unique and if you’ve not heard them together before you are in for a special treat. You can watch the stunning performance below.
While Cher is still a very popular act, her first husband, Sonny Bono and Glen Campbell are no longer living. However, during their careers, they were very popular hosting variety shows, recording and traveling around the world sharing their unique brand of music. Sonny even became the mayor of Palm Springs and a Congressman prior to his death due to a tragic skiing accident in 1998.
Glen Campbell was also a wildly popular American singer who died in 2017. Campbell was best known for his hit Rhinestone Cowboy. It’s great to hear his rich vibrato during this performance as he always had a smooth voice and a charming style. In his later years we missed that as he began to lose his memory due to Alzheimer’s disease.
We’re thankful for this video! This is a testament to Campbell’s vocal versatility and his love for Jesus. If you’ve never heard these three sing together you’re in for a fun treat!
