Is being good enough? Will a moral life get you to heaven? Many people think this is the case. In their mind, God is up in heaven with a weighted scale. As long as their good deeds outweigh their bad, they’re are okay. This thinking is not only wrong; it’s downright dangerous and can send a person to hell. The one and only way to ensure salvation is Jesus, not good morals. Learn more by watching this humorous video below.

Old or New Testament, Both “Testify” to Jesus

Whether you study the Old or New Testaments, you will get the same message. Jesus is the only way to be saved. Jesus Himself explained it in John 5:39, which says, “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness to me.” In other words, Jesus is saying, the scriptures will “testify” to the fact that He is and forever will be the only way to gain salvation.

Trying to be Moral Isn’t Enough

In the video, Joseph explains that it isn’t enough to study the Bible just to become moral. Learning about King David, Moses, Elijah and the rest is great. However, to do so only to make yourself more holy, for the sole purpose of “being good” isn’t the point. The point is each of these characters point us to Christ, foreshadowing His coming. When we only attempt to build our own moral self up and be good so we can say we are better than others, we are no better than the Pharisees of Jesus time. The Pharisees were the religious leaders. They were the “good people.” However, they put too much stock in their own righteousness and not enough in Jesus and who He was. They were literally blinded from the Savior who stood before their very eyes. Don’t duplicate their ignorance.
