Things have been rough lately for police officers all over the country. Sadly, targeted attacks seem to be on the rise. Earlier this week in Tennessee, it was no different.
Twenty-eight-year-old police officer Terrance McBride, a three-year veteran with the Metro Nashville Police Department, was shot in the shoulder. He was simply serving a warrant at the Cumberland Inn on West Trinity Lane in East Nashville when a suspect shot him. After shooting the officer, the suspect subsequently shot himself in the head.
Luckily, the police officer’s shotgun wound was not life-threatening. However, he was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for observation. He is expected to make a full recovery, but would appreciate any prayers.
The Bible tells us that violence is not the answer. These senseless shootings must stop!
Galatians 5:19-21 reads, “Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
If we want to inherit the kingdom of God, this violence must end. We must be the change we wish to see in the world.
