The country band, Alabama has been around since 1969, and nearly 50 years later, the group is still performing at sold-out concerts around the world. Alabama has won over 40 music awards, including two Grammy Awards. They were also the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year for three consecutive years in the early 1980s, and in 1989 they were named the Academy of Country Music’s Artist of the Decade.
Alabama has a total of 260 songs, with 65 of them released as singles. Among the songs they have sung, many of them were covers of hymns, such as “Amazing Grace” and “Church in the Wildwood”, but probably their most inspiring song of all time is, “Angels Among Us.”
The song was released in 1993 as a Christmas single on the album, “Cheap Seats.” Written by Don Goodman and Becky Hobbs, listeners through the years have described the song as a blessing. Randy Owen, lead singer of Alabama, says he has received hundreds of letters from people that the song has inspired.
The video features stories of real-life “angels,” most of whom were complete strangers stepping in to help someone in need, or to perform a random act of kindness. It’s a video that brings to mind this Bible verse: “Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!” Hebrews 13:2
