Am I Putting My Hope In Something That Is Not God’s Will? (READ Here To Understand This)
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:1-2 (KJV)
Sometimes we run into closed doors in our lives and we question whether it is God closing a door, or if we should continue to pursue these things. Sometimes we have to trust that God has closed a door for a reason, even if we felt sure that it was what He wanted for our lives.
But sometimes we have to continue pushing on because our harvest is waiting on the other side of these trials.
How do we know if it is God closing a door, or if we should continue to pursue something? The main thing is to continue to pray over it, but NOT worry over it. When we learn to leave it in God’s hands, we will then be able to walk in freedom from worry about the outcome. Keep asking, seeking, and knocking.
Matthew 7:7-8, “Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who searches finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.“ (HCSB)
Here are 3 things you can do when you are unsure about God’s will
- Offer it to God | “Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God”– The best thing we can do when we are unsure about something is to pray about it. Continue to seek God on the matter and put it in His hands. Offer it up to Him to do with it as He wishes. Pray what His Word says about whatever is concerning you. His promises are “yes” to those to are in Him and there are promises for everything that we face. These are not always the easiest things to do. It’s not easy to relinquish our “control” but we know He has our best interests at heart. Doing this will save us from a lot of unnecessary troubles down the road.
- Shut out the world | “Do not conform to the pattern of this world”– Sometimes things “make sense” in our carnal mind, but may not be what God has for us in this present season. Isaiah 55:8-9 says, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not My ways.” This is the Lord’s declaration. “For as heaven is higher than earth, so My ways are higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” He knows the end from the beginning and can see things that we might not know about. It’s our job to trust that He knows what is best for our lives. He knows what we are ready for and aren’t ready for, and He knows what we are in need of.
- Open your mind | “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”– As we walk with God, He will continue to renew our mind by His Word if we allow Him too. To be conformed, in the Greek language means to fashion alike, to conform to the same pattern, to fashion self according to. To be transformed in the Greek language means to “metamorphose”, change, transfigure, to transform. We are told here in these verses to not be conformed according to patterns of this world; BUT instead to be transformed by the renewing of our mind.
Continue to seek God on the matter and leave the results up to Him. He wants only what is best for you.
