“No one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.” (Matthew 24:36 NLT)
I’m absolutely convinced of this verse. If Jesus doesn’t know the time when God will call His children home, none of us do. We are told to, “Occupy til I come.” (Luke 19:13)
We are to prepare ourselves, and also reach out to the ones who don’t know our Savior. The Word says that, “They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until that day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when The Son of man is revealed.” (Luke 17:27,30)
What I think about is that this day is going to appear to look like any other. People are going to be living the way they do every day, going about their business and Jesus will return. You may be thinking, “This isn’t going to happen, we’ve heard about it our entire lives.”
God is a merciful God and I believe that He has been giving us more time for the salvation of more souls. He isn’t “slack” concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that ALL should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)
He is completely for us and desires that we all come to know Him, and to be with Him forever.
