Who is Christ? Who is He to you? Your answers to these questions are vitally important. Before, answering, let’s look at who Christ claimed to be. After all, He is either who He claimed to be or He was a lunatic and liar who shouldn’t be trusted. There is no middle ground. This video below published by fischerpilne based on C.S. Lewis’ “Mere Christianity” explores the issue more in depth:
Jesus said he was God. Due to His Jewish faith, this didn’t imply he thought he was a god, one of many. Instead, He meant the God. The creator. He also claimed to be able to forgive sins. To make this claim as a mere man would be preposterous even blasphemous. In Matthew 9:2, the Bible says, “Some mean brought to him a paralytic, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, ‘Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.'” This verse is just one example where Jesus forgives sins.
There are many religions full of misguided individuals who believe Jesus was just a good man, perhaps even going so far as to claim Him a prophet. Yet, when you think about this, it makes no sense. If Jesus wasn’t God in the flesh. If He wasn’t who He claimed Himself to be, then He also wasn’t a good man. Instead, He would have been considered a blasphemer, a heretic. He can’t be both a good man, gifted teacher and not be the Son of God, not be God on earth. Therefore, Jesus must be who He says He is, God. That is the only truth. Believing that Jesus was a great man, just not God, simply doesn’t hold water.
