Baptism is a beautiful event for people of faith. However, one young girl wasn’t too happy with her experience. Watch this video published by LiveLeak showcases the whole event.
This young girl, accompanied by her loving parents was being baptized by a priest. During the baptism, as the priest was putting the girl gently into the water, she got upset. Once she did, she began hurling expletives at the priest. She said “puto,” which in her native language means gay prostitute. Her parents were obviously embarrassed and tried to cover the girls mouth to prevent more expletives from coming out.
While the incident is humorous as the child obviously thought the priest was trying to drown her and wasn’t very happy about the prospect, it’s sad that the little girl doesn’t understand the act of baptism any better than she obviously does.
Many believers say that baptism is an “outward sign of inward change.” It is typically completed after salvation, though infants and young children are baptized in many denominations as a sign mainly that their parents will commit to raise them within the Christian faith.
The Bible talks about the act in various locations. In Colossians 2:12, it says, “Having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.” Galatians 3:27 says, “For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourself with Christ,” and Mark 16:16 says, “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”
Though this humorous event should be taken lightly because it is a mere child who didn’t understand what was taking place, baptism itself is a very serious matter for any believer and should be entered into with maturity.
