God Loves Even Those Who Have Drifted Away From Him (He’s Always Seeking You)
Jesus loves all people… It’s not just something He does, it is WHO HE IS.
I go back to the story of the prodigal son. He basically wished his daddy dead because he asked for everything that would be coming to him. The way I understand it, whatever would be his in his “daddy’s will” so to speak. So the story goes on and the father gives him all that was coming to him. The son takes his inheritance and blows it!! Now we’re getting to a place we can relate. Have you ever felt that you had blown it? Yeah, so have I.
He spent it on all sorts of things that left him with no money and nothing to show for it. Ever been there? Moving on, he got a job working for one of the citizens of that country (The far country that he had went to)– he was left with the job of feeding pigs. He was hungry and without and longed to eat of the pigs food. Now we know he was in desperate need!
So the story goes that one day he came to his senses. It all clicked in his head and he realized just where he was and what could be done about it. He had spent everything he had, now was tending to pigs… this was not the life he wanted. So he started thinking about how his fathers hired servants had it better than he did where he was at… So what would he do now? He would go to his father and confess to him that he had sinned against him and Heaven. He would tell him that he was no longer worthy to be a son in his eyes, but to make him a hired servant.
He got up and headed to his fathers house. When he was a long way off in the distance, his father spotted him and ran to him! He didn’t go back in the house ignoring the fact his son was home- he ran to meet him; he hugged him and kissed him! That’s love!! So the son said what he had planned to, and this was the fathers response:
“Quick! Bring out the best robe and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Then bring the fattened calf and slaughter it, and lets celebrate with a feast, because this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found! So they began to celebrate.” (Luke 15:22-24)
That is love in action. Beloved, no matter where you are right this very moment; God loves you. Put yourself in the place of the son, and Daddy God in the place of the father. He’s calling you home, embrace it and run to Him. Worried about what you look like? Don’t. The son came from the pig pen, and his loving father clothed him in the best clothes and cleaned him up himself. You don’t have to clean your mess. Bring it to God, and He will do the rest. Just know that He loves you, He is waiting on you– He hasn’t given up on you.. Come on home. The celebration is waiting for you.
