This is Why Satan Thought He Could Defeat God

What a story this is, the fall of satan. He had it all, literally. He lived in Heaven with God, he was wise, he was the worship leader, and The Bible describes him so beautifully. So what happened? … Pride.
We are warned over and over about pride. Pride will have us thinking more highly of ourselves than we ought, and we are told not to do that. (Rom. 12:3) We are to remain humble. With humility, comes grace (James 4:6).
Satan did this very thing, he allowed himself to get lifted up in pride. He wasn’t happy with being all that he was, he wanted more… Remind us of ourselves a little? May The Lord help us!
He wanted to be like The Most High God. So as pride came, he fell… literally.
“Pride comes before destruction, and an arrogant spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18
I think pride is probably one of the ugliest things that we fight. I can say this because I’ve known this struggle. We are no better than our brothers or our sisters in Christ. We are actually no better than the sinner we see on the streets- the ONLY thing that makes us different is the blood of Christ. It’s nothing we’ve done anyway, all our blessing are a gift from God. So who are we to think so highly of ourselves?
Everything good we have is because of Christ. We really can’t boast about any of it. We are not responsible for the good that we have. It is by God’s grace, mercy and favor that we can experience any type of blessing. Satan gave up an eternity with The Presence of God. He gave it up with the thoughts that he would be “like God”. He gave away more than he received in the long run and God casted satan out of Heaven
Here’s two epic bible verses to remember:
James 4:6 says, “But he giveth us more grace. Wherefore he saith God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
James 4:10 says, “Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”
