Dancing is mentioned in the Bible many times as a means of praising and worshiping God. The Second Baptist Church in Houston, took this even further and came up with a plan to “Dance their shoes off for Jesus.” The idea was to get a huge group of people who would dance, flash mob style, and leave their shoes behind at the end. The shoes would then be collected for those in need. The following is the meaning of the dance, as explained by Second Baptist Church:
“The purpose of ‘Dance Your Shoes Off!’ Was to proclaim the resurrection of Jesus Christ in a powerful and celebratory way. Most importantly, each participant left a new pair of shoes on the field for those in need. These shoes were given to local mission agencies, including Star of Hope, and individuals all across the world through our mission partners and mission trips.”
What Happens in the Video?
Watch this joyful, uplifting video for yourself to see this large group of people from The Second Baptist Church begin dancing to the song “Rise Up.” This song was produced by Joshua Moore and written by Lauren James Camey. When watching this video, be prepared to be impressed with the crowd’s synchronized dance moves and ability to dance and sing on cue. Be sure to watch it through to the end because the ending is by far the best part. It’s amazing to see the joy on each face as the group dances together to praise God.
