Angels. They are fascinating creatures. There is likely none as interesting as the famed Michael. You likely know him as Michael the Archangel. This video published below explores some surprising facts you might not know about this amazing angel.
- Michael’s Name is Significant: The word Michael actually means “who is like God?” The word archangel means chief angel or superior angel.
- The Word Angel is Significant: The word angel means “messenger.” Sometimes, this word refers to heavenly beings. Other times, it simply refers to a messenger who is a person. A good example of this can be found in Revelation 2:1, which says, “Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks.” The letter wasn’t being written to an angel, instead, a pastor or “messenger” of that church.
- There Are Many Similarities Between Jesus and Michael the Archangel: The book of Daniel calls Michael a prince in several instances. One such occasion is found in Daniel 10:21, “But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.” Jesus is also called a prince in scripture. You can find an example of this in Acts 5:30-31, which says, “The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Him hath God exalted with His right hand to be a Prince and Savior, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.”
