Morbid obesity had Freddie Combs trapped within his house- and it nearly ended his life. After his near-death experience, he vowed to make changes and live his dreams. After losing a phenomenal four hundred pounds, and with the loving support of his wonderful wife Kay, Freddie managed to make it onto The X Factor where a small army of stage hands helped him get on stage.

His wife wheeled him in his special made wheelchair across the stage, and after explaining some of his life experiences, Freddie then proceeded to bring down the house in a moving rendition of “Wind Beneath My Wings”. His health condition nearly ended his dreams, but his spirit helped him turn his life around.

He is a living reminder that we can always return to God and live a better life, and he will bless us and make us strong as we continue the fight to live better. And honestly, for someone who was once forced by his circumstances to never leave his house, his ability to go onto stage, to talk easily with celebrity judges, and to give such a powerful performance, was a testament to his courage and strength.

He is a great example for any of us to work hard and trust to God.
