In this video published by Daily Effective Prayer, you will be guided through an important prayer on forgiveness, renewal and repentance. This topic is vitally important with regard to creating and then sustaining a healthy relationship with Christ.
What The Bible Says About Forgiveness?
The importance of forgiveness is plainly laid out in Matthew 6:14-15, which says, “ For if you forgive other people when they sing against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But, if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” There you have it, if you aren’t willing to seek and offer forgiveness to those who have wronged you, you will not be able to achieve forgiveness. Of course, the topic of forgiveness also includes our seeking forgiveness of our own sins.
Why is Forgiveness Important in the Christian Life?
Without a desire for forgiveness for our sins and a genuine repentance, no one can hope to achieve a right relationship with Christ. As it states in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” As this verse outlines, without our acknowledgement of our sinfulness, we cannot be purified from our natural unrighteousness and cannot be justified.
All People Need Forgiveness & Repentance
No matter how good of a person you are, there is no human without sin. In Romans 3:10, this is specifically outlined , “As it is written: ‘None is righteous, no, not one.’” This verse further proves, none of us are without a need for God’s forgiveness. This means we must all repent and seek that forgiveness in order to enter a right relationship with Christ and be justified before the Father. Enjoy this guided prayer in order to do just that.
