Should Christians Bother With Small Talk? (Here’s The Answer)
This is a very interesting topic to have questions about.
Sometimes we are the only one that will show Jesus to another individual. There are times I like to make small talk with people in new locations where i already may feel uncomfortable.
We need to view people through understanding eyes and realize that everyone is facing their own set of issues.
Many times the things that you’re facing, other people that are around you are facing it too. When we show compassion toward others, then they can receive hope for whatever they are going through.
We are supposed to be like Jesus in the world. (1 John 4:17) He shed hope on many issues that had ailed people for years. His very presence brought comfort to them. We are to help spread good to all people.
Sometimes small talk can be what changes peoples mind about themselves. How many times are we looking in the eyes of people contemplating suicide? How many times have our smiles given hope to the people who so desperately needed it? The Bible says that sometimes we are entertaining angels unaware. (Heb. 13:2 )
One thing we need to do more often is listen to what others are saying to us. I know from my experience I like to talk, a lot! 🙂 Yet, sometimes what the other person needs is someone to hear them out. Love on them the best you can and God will do the rest.
