What Is The Christian Life?
A Christian is someone who is “Christ-like”.
We are called to continue living like Christ as long as were in the earth. Will we ever be perfect while being here? No. We will all still make mistakes and mess up.. but i love how God sees the heart of us. He sees our desires to do better, think better, and act better. Here are a few things that make up the life of a Christian…
- Christians are to live by faith – faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Heb. 11:1). Faith is the way a Christian receives anything from God. First, salvation– then anything else that you need. Jesus came to give His children abundant life and eternal life (John 10:10; John 3:16).
- Christians are to constantly be transformed to The Word of God, and not conformed to the world (Rom. 12:1-1) – The ways of God don’t line up, nor make sense with the world. God’s ways and thoughts are totally different from ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). God calls us to love, when the world says get revenge. Were told to give when the world is only trying to look out for themselves. It’s a totally different standard- yet there is so much peace and order with God’s way.
- The Christian has to exercise much endurance and perseverance – We are told to count it all joy when we fall into trials (James 1:2-4). That doesn’t seem possible, but it is. If we look at it from a bigger perspective and know that good is coming out of it, we can be more apt to go through it with a better attitude. “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us” (Rom. 8:18). As a Christian, everything we go through will ultimately work for our good. (Rom. 8:28)
- A Christian’s life is an act of service – We are told to take care of the orphans, the fatherless, the strangers, and the widows (James 1:27, Psalm 68:5, Is. 1:17, Zech. 7:10). We are told to give when there is a need. Don’t get caught up in believing that if you take care of someone else you won’t have what you need. Certainly not true. When you take care of someone else, you can be SURE that God is taking care of you! (Luke 6:38)
Most importantly a Christian’s life is a life with God. I am SURE that there is nothing like a life with God in it. It makes life worth living, because without HIM- there is no purpose.
